In Feb 2024 a New York judge ordered Trump to pay about $355 million plus interest. On 21 Aug 2025 the Appellate Division vacated the entire money award as an Eighth Amendment excessive fine but left the liability finding in place. Both sides have appealed to New York's Court of Appeals.
